Epistle to the New Convert

Updated: Jan 9

Preface

When I first got saved, there were so many things that I wish I knew about Christianity that I didn't know; and so many things I thought I knew, which were wrong. In recent days, I felt burdened to write something for Babes in Christ (those who have just been saved), to teach them about the essentials of the faith. The wording of this letter to new Christians may seem archaic, but I chose the wording which I have used due to the fact that much of this letter is made of direct quotes from the King James Bible; and the Bible commands us to speak as the oracles of God. There are citations for all of the quotes. I pray this helps you in your walk with the most High God.

The Gospel

Little children, the God which created the heaven and the earth, Jehovah¹, has in these last days revealed himself to the world through his Son, Jesus Christ. He, who was once afar off from us due to our sins, made himself of no reputation, and took the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men². He was born to the virgin, and his name was called, Jesus, because Jehovah was manifest in the flesh to bring salvation to the world³.

Being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself², and became a helpless baby; and this is a mystery, that the all-knowing and almighty God increased in wisdom and stature, and was was subject unto Joseph and Mary until the day when John began to open his mouth and speak the word of God.

John prepared the way for the Lord and the Lord came, and was baptized of him: And the hour he was baptized, the Holy Ghost descended upon him, and moved him into the wilderness where he was tempted by the Devil, so that he may be a help when we are tempted; and he refused to sin so he might leave us an example, that we may follow his footsteps and put to death the deeds of the flesh.

From those days forward, he preached the word of God; entering the synagogues of the Jews and reading the scripture and teaching the gospel that the Kingdom of God is at hand; and that Christ will finish transgression, make an end of sin, make reconciliation for iniquity, and bring everlasting righteousness¹⁰; and the greatness of his kingdom and dominion shall be under the whole heaven, and that he shall give his kingdom to the saints of the most High, whose kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom¹¹.

Teaching these things, he commanded all men, everywhere, to repent and believe the Gospel¹², so that they may receive the remission of sins. He proved these things through many signs and wonders, healing the sick and casting out devils. But he was rejected by his own people ¹³, who trusted in lying traditions from their elders, rather than trusting the word of God¹⁴: fulfilling the word which they had rejected¹⁵, they took him, and delivered him to judgement, and slew him on the cross.

By his death, this Jesus, who was the righteous servant of God, justified many: bearing the iniquity of the world and blotting out the account of our life that was used against us: he took it away and nailed it to the cross: surely he bore our griefs, and carried our sorrows: he was smitten of God and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement we deserved was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way¹⁵. We were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But after that, the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared: the Lord laid on Jesus the iniquity of us all¹⁶. He made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we may be made the righteousness of God in him¹⁷.

He died, so that through death he might destroy him who had the power of death (that is, the Devil)¹⁸. He descended into the depths of the earth, and preached unto the spirits in Prison¹⁹. But God did not leave his Holy One in hell, and did not let his body see corruption²⁰: but three days after he was laid in the tomb, he rose again, rescuing those who through fear of death were enslaved¹⁸: For the Lord himself said, I am the resurrection, and the life, he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die²¹. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him²².

This Jesus lived with his disciples for forty days, and ascended up to heaven, where he now waits until the great and terrible day of the Lord: and on his ascension, the angels spoke, Why do you stand, staring up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven²³. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise²². The sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: and then shall the sign of the Son of man appear in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory²⁴. The earth shall shake and tremble, the foundation of the hills will move and shake because of his wrath. Smoke will go up out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth will devour. He shall bow the heavens and come down, with darkness under his feet²⁵. He shall send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other²⁴: and they shall live and reign with Christ a thousand years and be priests of God²⁶.

Assurance of Salvation

I write these things unto you, little children, so that you may know the meaning of your calling as saints²⁷: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you the reason for the hope that is in you²⁸. Our hope is in the resurrection of Christ, who proved to us that there is life after death, and the return of Christ, who will show us face to face this life eternal²⁹. Now, we are the sons of God. It does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is³⁰: For God has predestinated us to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren³¹: and if we are brethren, then we are also heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ³².

Our hope is not seen, for if it was seen, why do we yet hope for it³³? We are given a promise afar off³⁴ that our corruptible body will be replaced with an incorruptible body³⁵, that God will write the law into our hearts, that our sins and iniquities will be forgiven and remembered no more³⁶, and that we will inherit a city made without hands, that will come down from God³⁷, and it's foundations will never be moved or shaken; where there are many mansions³⁸, a land and a home for us to posses as an everlasting possession³⁹.

But now, our hope is not seen, but we have faith in him that promised⁴⁰, and we walk as pilgrims on the earth, migrants who are traveling to another country³⁴, to this land which is promised to us. The promise is not received by works, but by faith, for there are no works which we can do that can bring this promise to pass. The work of the promise is borne by him that promised. The promise does not come by the Law⁴¹, nor by any work of righteousness¹⁶. For if they which were of the law were heirs, the promise is made of none effect⁴¹. Therefore, it is by grace, for it is the grace and mercy of God for him to give us this promise, and we have faith that, in due time, we will receive the promise.

Righteous Living

Every man that has this hope in him ought to purify himself so that he may be pure as he is pure³⁰. We ought not to use our freedom from the law for an occasion to the flesh and sin⁴². For sin is the transgression of the Law³⁰: and the Law of God is to love one another. But if we break the Law and sin, then we hate, biting and devouring one another. One ought to take heed that they aren't devoured in the process⁴².

We sin because our flesh lusts for that which it does not have⁴³ and when we are drawn away by those lusts, we kill, steal, lie, covet, envy, and hate. We commit adultery, fornication, drunkenness, maliciousness, debate, backbiting, boasting and invent evil things. All of these things work death in those who do them⁴⁴, the Lord cursing them with sickness, calamity, destruction, distress, anguish and death: and for these things are the unsaved condemned; but we are saved and not condemned with the world⁴⁵.

On our own, we are enslaved to the flesh, doing things we would not, and not doing those things that we would⁴⁶. But, if we walk in the spirit, we will not fulfil the lusts of the flesh. The spirit lusts for love, peace, joy, longsuffering, faith, meekness, and temperance⁴². If we walk after these things, doing good unto all men, especially them of the household of faith⁴⁷, then we will be free from sin and will put to death the deeds of the flesh. Blessed is he, who when the Lord comes, is found to walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh. Verily, I say unto you that he will be called great in the Kingdom of God⁴⁸, made a ruler over cities⁴⁹ and over his goods. But woe unto those evil servants who walk after the flesh and not after the Spirit, for he shall have a portion with the hypocrites⁵⁰, and will be called least in the Kingdom of God⁴⁸.

But let this consolation be with you, and fear not: for whether we walk in righteousness or walk in sin, we are Eternally Justified, and the promise is sure unto us. But whether we be great in the kingdom or whether we be least, that is not certain. Whether we have peace in this life or whether we have distress and tribulation, that is not certain. Therefore, they which have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works, for these things are good and profitable unto men¹⁶.

False Teachers & Another Christ

My little children, it is the last days, and you have heard that the Antichrist shall come. But even now, there are many antichrists in the world⁵¹. Believe not every spirit: but try the spirits⁵². You know that Jesus, which has been preached unto you, was preached first by God himself, then by Enoch, then by Job, then by Moses, then by Balaam, then by Samuel, then by David, then by the men of God, then by Joel and by Amos, Hosea and Micah, Isaiah and Nahum, Zephaniah and Jeremiah, Habakkuk and Ezekiel, Daniel and Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi, then John; and after that by Christ Himself, then by his apostles, Andrew, Peter, and the Sons of Thunder, Phillip, Bartholomew and Thomas, Matthew, and the Son of Alphaeus, Jude, Simon, Matthias, James, Paul, Barnabas, Silas, Apollos, Andronicus, Silvanus, Epaphroditus, Priscilla and Aquilla, Luke, and John Mark; then he was preached by the Evangelists and our brethren which are asleep; and in these last days, he is preached by us also. That Jesus which was first preached by God, and which we have preached unto you; in him shall you abide: in the gospel which we have preached unto you and the Spirit which was demonstrated unto you.

If any man preaches another Jesus, or another Gospel, or another Spirit, he is antichrist⁵⁵. If we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel than the one which you have received, let them be accursed. If any man preach any other gospel than the one which you have received, let them be accursed⁵³. Invite them not into your house, neither bid them God speed⁵⁴.

Do not be deceived by those who teach works can save. Do not be deceived by those who say that Christ was not a man, nor by those who say Christ is not God, nor by those who say Christ did not die for all sin, nor by those who say Christ did not rise, nor by those who say Christ will not return. Do not be deceived by those who say you have not yet been baptized with the Holy Ghost, nor by those who say the washing of the flesh saves. Do not be deceived by those who would have you fear the devils, over whom Christ has made you to trample, and given you power to cast them out in his name, and to do many other wonderful works. Do not be deceived by those who say the resurrection has already come to pass, nor by those who say that the living will be caught up before those who sleep. Do not be deceived by those who say God is like a man who's Yes is not Yes, and No is not No, nor by those who say God does not condemn the unbeliever to hell, nor by those who say that everlasting life is not everlasting. Let all those who say these things be accursed.

Scripture Alone

My little children, when the prophet Jeremiah walked on the earth, he was contradicted by false prophets⁵⁶; when apostle Paul walked the earth, he was contradicted by false apostles⁵⁷; now we walk the earth, and at every side we are contradicted by false teachers⁵⁸. Let us not be weary and faint because of these things, but let us look to Jesus who was contradicted by the false Jews⁵⁹, how he was not deceived by their vain traditions, nor by their Jewish fables, but rather, he said, It is written.

Beware lest any man rob you of the hope you have through philosophy and meaningless lies⁶⁰, giving no heed to them, but rather having a repentant heart, giving heed to God and the word of his grace which are in the scriptures, which are able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance with all them that are sanctified. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men abundantly and will not find fault⁶¹: That anointing which you received of him abides in you and you need not that any man teach you⁶²: for even when we know not what we should pray for as we ought, the Spirit makes intercession for us⁶³ and reveals to us the deep things of God⁶⁴.

But, my brethren, be not deceived: the Devil quoted the scripture when he tempted Christ: for the Devil took him to the pinnacle of the temple and quoted David, saying, If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning you: and in their hands shall they bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. But listen to the words of Christ, who, after hearing these things, said, It is written, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God⁶⁵. In this we learn what the prophet meant when he said, the word of God was given precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, there a little⁶⁶.

Conclusion

My little children, believe in God alone, and keep yourself from idols. Do not let a man's good works make you overlook his evil works⁶⁷. A wicked tree is known by it's fruit, a false prophet by his false prophecy, and a false teacher by his false teachings⁶⁸. Cleave fast to that which is good, abstain from all appearance of evil, and prove all things. A fool appears wise when he holds his peace. If any man among you seems religious but cannot control his tongue, his religion is vain. Pure religion is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world⁶⁹.

Now, may the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."

  6. Mark 1:9-13 "And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him."

  7. Hebrews 4:15-16 "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

  8. 1 Peter 2:21-23 "For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:"

  14. Mark 7:5-13 "Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

  15. Isaiah 53:1-12 "Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

  16. Titus 3:3-8 "For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men."

  17. 2 Corinthians 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

  18. Hebrews 2:14-15 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."

  19. 1 Peter 3:18-20 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

  21. John 11:25-26 "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"

  22. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

  25. Psalm 18:7-10 "Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind."

And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."

  37. Revelation 21:1-7 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son."

  41. Romans 4:14-17 "For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were."

  42. Galatians 5:13-23 "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

  43. James 4:1-2 "From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not."

  44. James 1:14-15 "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."

  45. 1 Corinthians 11:27-32 "Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world."

  46. Romans 7:18-25 "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."

  47. Galatians 6:8-10 "For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."

  48. Matthew 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

  49. Luke 19:11-27 "And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear. He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

  50. Matthew 24:45-51 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

  51. 1 John 2:18 "Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time."

  52. 1 John 4:1-3 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."

  53. Galatians 1:8-9 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

  54. 2 John 1:9-11 "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds."

  55. 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."

  56. Jeremiah 26:8 "Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die."

  57. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

  58. 2 Peter 2:1 "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction."

  59. Hebrews 12:1-3 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds."

  60. Colossians 2:8 "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

  61. James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

  62. 1 John 2:27 "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."

  63. Romans 8:26-27 "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

  64. 1 Corinthians 2:10 "But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God."

  65. Matthew 4:1-11 "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serv

  66. Isaiah 28:13 "But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken."

  67. Ezekiel 33:12 "Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth."

  68. Matthew 7:15-20 "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

  69. James 1:26-27 "If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
